glass block, glass skylight

Architectural Glass Block Experts Complete Iconic Masterpiece

At Circle Redmont®, we’re thrilled to announce the completion of our latest architectural marvel: the Solow Building located at 9 West 58th Street in New York City. This project features a large glass skylight that perfectly exemplifies our commitment to excellence and innovation in architectural glass design.

A Skylight Above, Natural Beauty Below

The 9 West 58th Street skylight is more than just a structural component: it’s truly a work of art. From above, it offers a breathtaking view, capturing the vibrant energy of NYC while providing a clear, open vista of city life. However, the real magic unfolds below. This glass skylight, designed with reinforced glass allows an abundance of natural light to to flood into a prestigious amenity space gym below, thereby creating a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere for the building’s tenants.

A Year and a Half in the Making

Additionally, the creation of the 9 West 58th Street glass skylight was the brainchild of SOM Architects and was indeed a meticulous process. Spanning over a year and a half, it progressed from the initial design phase to the final installation by GBA Architectural Products. Throughout this period, our team of expert designers and engineers worked tirelessly with Benchmark Builders, LLC., ensuring that every detail met our high standards of quality and precision. As a result, the project not only elevates the Solow’s building aesthetic beauty, but also significantly enhances the well-being of its occupants.

Project Details: From Vision to Reality

Furthermore, the space initially featured two escalators that connected the street level to the buildings lower level. To make way for the skylight, the escalators were removed, thereby transforming the area into a state-of-the-art amenity space gym. Furthermore, the structural steel framework beneath the skylight provides robust support for this large structure. The skylight itself boasts a 6-foot round circle in the center, surrounded by pie-shaped wedges of glass, forming a 34-foot diameter. This glass skylight is primarily designed as a striking architectural element that maximizes natural light and enhances the amenity space below.
